Bakery Carolina Recipe

The popular bakery carolina is a sweet half profiterole, half chocolate bomb. If you can't resist this gluttony, learn with Specialfood how to prepare homemade bakery carolina, check out the step by step below!

Ingredients to make Carolina bakery:

For the choux dough:

 100 grams of wheat flour

 100 grams of unsalted butter

 100 milliliters of water

 4 units of egg

 1 coffee spoon of sugar

 1 pinch of salt

For the filling:

 ready-to-use whipped cream

To the roof:

 200 grams of milk chocolate

How to make Carolina bakery:

Start by preparing the choux dough: bring a pan of water and butter to medium heat, cook until boiling and turn off. Add the flour, salt and sugar and, using a wooden spoon or spatula, mix well and vigorously so as not to lump.

Turn the heat on low and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the dough comes loose and forms a crust at the bottom of the pan. Turn off the heat, remove, let it warm and knead until it is at room temperature.

The next step in bakery carolina dough is to add the beaten eggs little by little, until the dough is smooth and elastic, but not soft (it may not be necessary to use the whole egg). Ideally, when lifting the spoon, the dough takes a long time to fall.

If you're having difficulty, check out the detailed choux pastry recipe step by step.

When ready, place the dough in a icing sleeve and make small carolina balls on a baking sheet lined with greased parchment paper or on a silicone mat.

Bake the choux dough in a preheated oven at 200ºC for 20 minutes, or until browned. Remove and allow to cool completely to proceed to the next step.

Open a hole in the bottom of the carolinas and fill with the whipped cream. You can use any other sweet to fill (for example, confectioner's cream), but with the whipped cream ready, it's more practical and faster.

Finish preparing your stuffed bakery carolinas by dipping them in the chopped and melted chocolate in the microwave. Refrigerate to set the filling and topping, then serve. Enjoy yourself!
